Bio
Hi, thanks for visiting! My name is Danielle Fiore and I'm the woman behind Il Fiore Nero.
I've always been fascinated by History and since I was a child I dreamed to be an historian. I became History Bachelor in 2011 with a thesis about the Battle of Hadrianopolis and the fall of the Roman Empire.
I'm into reenactment since 2004, when I was just 17. I started with Middle Ages and then, after a break, I understood Ancient Rome would have been my life. But it's just a part of the story. I started to work as alternative model in 2007, trying to mix my historical knowledge and my inner passion for photography; my first shootings weren't absolutely historically accurate, this process took years and it's still in the making.
In 2013, almost for joke, I started to sew my own garments. This changed my life completely: I entered the world of costuming and Il Fiore Nero was born. This joke has become a full time job: I'm able to work from home and doing what I love (when I have the time). Historical sewing takes time and practice, you'll never stop to learn.
I love to share my knowledge about costumes and sewing techniques, I try to do my best in giving and sharing tutorials (please visit my Youtube channel as well!). I opened this blog in 2011 to talk about my modelling career but, actually, I work as full time seamstress and historical costumer with buyers from all over the world!
I may look cold and austere in photos but I'm a very kind and outgoing person - drop me a line and I will be happy to answer! Don't be shy and come to say "Hello!" if we meet during an event - I don't bite!
